The brief

The school required a complete roof strip and redecoration, with supporting works to restore the building’s exterior to its original condition. Internal refurbishment and a comprehensive clean were also specified.

Our approach

Having previously delivered projects for GDST, including works at Sutton High School, Eden was trusted to once again deliver on time and within budget. Careful planning and sequencing were key to achieving the programme during the restricted summer break.

Key works

• Provision of temporary safe access scaffolding with monitored alarm

• Complete roof strip and installation of new clay plain tiles, felt and battens

• Replacement of all leadwork, including flashings, soakers, dressings and coverings to dormers, chimneys and parapets

• Roofing repairs to dormers and localised cladding and guttering repairs

• Installation of a new full-width UPVc classroom window to the Music Room

• Repointing of brickwork and stonework repairs across front and rear elevations

• Full external redecoration of all painted surfaces, including joinery, windows, doors, fascias, soffits and rainwater goods

• Careful reinstatement of services impacted by the works, including power, heating, ventilation, telecoms and security systems

• Internal builders clean following completion

The outcome

The project was successfully delivered within the nine-week programme and to budget. The refurbished roof and renewed façades have returned the school to excellent condition, complementing its location and safeguarding the building for the future.
