Sandra from Eden has successfully completed her Mental Health First Aid refresher training, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to supporting wellbeing across the projects and teams we work with.

While refresher training is about keeping knowledge up to date, it is also a reminder of why this matters so much, particularly in industries like construction.
The reality is difficult to ignore. Suicide remains one of the leading causes of death among men, and the risk is significantly higher for those working in construction and building trades. Long hours, physical demands, financial pressures, job insecurity, and a culture that has not always encouraged open conversations all contribute to the issue.
Too often, struggles are hidden. Many men feel they have to “get on with it” rather than speak up, and by the time signs become visible, the situation can already be serious.
This is where Mental Health First Aid training plays a critical role. It equips people like Sandra with the confidence to recognise early warning signs, start conversations, and guide individuals towards the right support. It is not about having all the answers, but about being present, listening, and knowing what to do next.
At Eden, we believe responsibility goes beyond delivering projects. Creating environments where people feel safe to talk, supported when they do, and looked out for every day should be standard, not an afterthought.
Sandra’s refresher is one step, but the wider goal is clear. A stronger, healthier industry where looking after mental health is treated with the same importance as physical safety.
