THE CHALLENGE

Eden was appointed by Gates Group to deliver a Stage 4 Design project at their Ford dealership in Harlow. The brief was to extend the existing showroom to provide additional space for vehicle display, while ensuring the site remained fully operational throughout. The scope included a brand-new steel structure, extensive groundworks, landscaping, full-height glazing, and a complete M&E package.

One of the biggest challenges was carrying out the works in a live dealership environment. The garage and showroom needed to continue trading as normal, requiring Eden to phase the programme over two stages and carefully manage operations to avoid disruption to staff, customers, and vehicle servicing.

In addition, the client wanted to ensure the wider community benefited throughout, with a strong emphasis on working with local contractors and suppliers.

OUR SOLUTION

Eden delivered a seamless extension by combining robust project management with meticulous phasing. The works began with groundworks and the installation of the new steel structure, creating the framework for the expanded showroom. Full-height glazing was incorporated to maximise natural light and create a bright, modern environment that showcased vehicles to best effect. Landscaping improvements enhanced the dealership’s external appearance, while a full M&E package was integrated to ensure the building met the latest standards for performance and efficiency.

To keep the showroom live during construction, the Eden team coordinated every stage with precision. Clear communication with the client, contractors, and on-site staff allowed the dealership to continue operating safely, while noise, dust, and disruption were minimised.
